Healthcare for all

A health center, never before seen in Germany, is opening in Berlin’s Neukölln district.

The approach is based on solidarity. Doctors and social workers, nurses and therapists will all share responsibilities together. The hierarchies will be flat. The center will not be profit-oriented, but rather oriented toward the common good.

The staff will not only treat symptoms of diseases, but will also look at their patients’ entire life situation. They want to find out what really makes people sick and make lasting changes. After all, our health depends to a large extent, on the social conditions in which we live.

We accompany the health center’s first three months of existence, and experience first hand the birth of a more just health care system starting out in Berlin-Neukölln.
