When it comes to banana cultivation, there still exist plenty of deficiencies. Small farmers get exploited easily and plantation workers have to fight hard for just payment and humane working conditions. The massive application of pesticides harms both people and nature. Meanwhile, banana farmer Juan rejects pesticides and pays fair wages to his workers. We watch Juan during work on his grounds, and trace the journey of fair traded bananas all the way from the banana plant until their transportation to Europe by ship. Farmer Juan talks about faire trade’s impact on his life and what he wishes for his family in the years to come.
