The Katmandu carpet workshops were once built in the 1960s as a development aid project aimed at Turkish refugees. Today, mainly Nepalese work there, but Tibetan culture is still omnipresent. The producer of fair traded carpets grants us insights about the traditional manufacturing of carpets in her home Tibet and tells us about the every-day life of Tibetan refugees in Katmandu. What you find out is that faire trade’s positive impact is even reaching beyond the actual workers.
