Paul Cézanne. The fight for modernism

In the summer of 2025, the former country home of the artist Paul Cézanne will open its doors to the public. The Bastide du Jas de Bouffan is located within a park in Aix-en-Provence, in the south of France. The film tells how Cézanne sought a new form of expression in painting at the Bastide. Here, alone and undisturbed, he was able to develop a style that went beyond Impressionism and would ultimately make him known as the “father of modernity.” Some of his most famous works were created at the Bastide.
