DJ Punk – The photographer Daniel Josefsohn

Directed by Lutz Pehnert | 2018 | ARTE

His goal was to make simple and authentic photos. His photos were created in the blink of an eye and the veracity of the moment. He was said to be the wildest amongst German photographers who changed photography in the 90s. He became famous in 1994, when he photographed teenagers during a night out in dance clubs for an MTV ad campaign. He defined himself as „egoistic“, „chaotic“ „ a bitch“ and „a consumption obsessed brat“. His photos uniquely portrayed a generation. Daniel Josefsohn, born in Hamburg, son of Jewish parents, one of the first skaters in Germany, always lived on the edge and seemed invincible – until his stroke in 2012, resulting in his death at the age of only 54.
