The Virgin Mary, martyrs, Amazons – revolution, emancipation, gender discourse. The female breast is a symbol of fertility, maternal care and deep religiosity. It is also a symbol of desire and female vulnerability. Up until today, artists have been creating works that revolve around the emotional and highly socio-political subject of the female breast.
